Raw Materials

Reducing waste-to-landfill and re-purposing industrial waste materials into a sustainable energy source is vital for the modern world. Greenwood Energy is actively working with a wide range of raw material suppliers to improve their sustainability profiles. By identifying and qualifying suitable feedstock for our end products, we are able to divert significant industrial waste streams from regional landfills and help meet overall reduction targets.

What Can Be Processed?

All feedstock streams are sampled and tested prior to approval for use as a fuel pellet. Potential raw materials are tested for energy content, fiber content, non-combustible content and other trace materials and minerals prior to being approved for conversion into fuel pellets. Raw materials currently being utilized by Greenwood include:

  • Paper mill sludge
  • Waste papers
  • Pulper rejects
  • Nonwovens
  • Wood waste
  • Pressure sensitive labels
  • Non-recyclable corrugated containers
  • Poly-laminated films
  • Process trim waste

Through our network of waste transfer and collection stations, we are able to reach a broader range of customers. These stations allow us to accept and re-purpose raw materials from waste generators located at greater distances from our plants.  Click here to see our waste transfer station locations.
